We are excited to bring to you this innovative collaboration with the shadow-puppet troupe Paper Puppet Opera. Their imaginative, narrative performances will be accompanied by Bach’s “Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf,” BWV 226, “Komm, Jesu, komm,” BWV 229, and “Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden,” BWV 230. Modern, Baroque-influenced works by Bryars, Nystedt, Sixten, and others will also be featured. […]

Bach’s grand, chorale-based “Jesu, meine Freude,” BWV 227, rounds out this season of our namesake’s motets. Sharing the program will be British composer Jonathan Dove’s thrilling cycle for chorus and piano, The Passing of the Year. The concert will be held at 3:00 pm at Trinity Parish Church, 609 8th Ave, in Seattle. Admission is by donation.

Our journey through the year with Bach continues with choruses from cantatas for the Feasts of Epiphany, the Purification of Mary, the Visitation, the Annunciation, and others. Related music and readings celebrate winter and the transition to spring.  

Bach in Spring

We end our season with a celebration of spring and the beginning of summer. Cantata choruses for Easter and the Feasts of Ascension, Pentecost, and Trinity are supplemented by other works and poetry rejoicing in the brightness of the season.
